Long-term value creation

In all its activities, Vastned stays focused on the interests of its tenants and its shareholders. Vastned aims to add long-term value for all stakeholders, including tenants and shareholders, by means of active management of the properties and improving the quality and both the financial and non-financial performance of its portfolio.

Preserving cultural heritage

By renovation of existing property Vastned contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage. By adding living space, Vastned responds to the strong demand for inner-city housing and also contributes to the liveliness of historical inner cities.

With its strategy Vastned aims to add value for its shareholders, tenants and employees, as well as to local communities and visitors of the European historical city centres.

The company aims to improve the quality of its real estate portfolio, also in terms of sustainability performance. In this way, Vastned extends the functional lifespan of its properties and contributes to the attractiveness of city centres.

“Vastned is actively looking at ways to improve the energy effiency of its properties. Often these historical inner-city buildings bring their own challenges when improving the sustainability performance. Vastned strives to attain higher EPC labels for most of its properties by making targeted investments.”

Green Finance Framework

The aim of the Framework is to (re)finance energy-efficient commercial and residential real estate that contributes to the preservation of historic city centres. Under this Framework Vastned may issue a range of green financing instruments.

ESG target in Green Bond financing Vastned aims to improve the energy efficiency, comfort and safety of assets by renovating them. Energy efficiency is measured using an energy performance certificate (EPC). Only projects where the EPC has risen to A are eligible to be allocated to green financing instruments. Vastned has included a target to increase its portfolio of eligible assets from 10% to 25%

Sustainalytics, a leading company in ESG research, ratings and data, has verified the Vastned Green Finance Framework and found it to be in line with the Green Bond Principles 2018 and the Green Loan Principles 2020.
